WV Sheriffs’ Association Endorses Salango for Governor

CHARLESTON, WV -- Today, the West Virginia Sheriffs’ Association endorsed Democratic Nominee for governor Ben Salango in the general election.
Citing Salango’s work as commissioner to increase pay for sheriff’s deputies, secure 12 weeks of paid family leave for county employees, and provide law enforcement with the tools needed to get the job done, the Sheriffs’ Association said Salango was the best choice for West Virginia.
“Through my work with Ben on the county-level, I know he will be the type of governor who has the backs of law enforcement officers,” said Kanawha County Sheriff Mike Rutherford, past president of the WV Sheriffs’ Association. “We know he will fight to give us the resources we need to get the job done; that’s why we are proud to endorse Ben for governor of West Virginia,” concluded Rutherford.
Commissioner Salango added, “I am honored to have the support of West Virginia’s sheriffs. In the era of COVID-19, I know our police officers and first responders are working overtime to ensure the safety and health of their communities. As governor, I will ensure they have the resources they need to continue the invaluable work they do to keep West Virginians safe.”
