CHARLESTON, WV – Today, retired Major General Allen E. Tackett endorsed Kanawha County Commissioner Ben Salango in the 2020 race for governor. Tackett served as the commander of the West Virginia National Guard from 1995 to 2011.

"As the former commander of the West Virginia National Guard and a lifelong West Virginian, I worked with former governors to support our service members, veterans, and military families. I am convinced that Ben Salango will fight for the West Virginia men and women who have served our great nation. Ben is dedicated to helping veterans and their families after their service ends and making our state a place where veterans want to live, work, start a business, and raise a family.

As a Kanawha County Commissioner, Ben led the effort of the Shawnee Sports Complex, and I've never seen anyone work harder than I saw Ben work to make it a reality. Ben is the type of guy who wants to do what is right for West Virginia, and I am confident that he will put our state before anything else and make us proud as our next governor.Retired Major General Allen E. "I'm honored to have General Tackett's support, said Commissioner Salango. "His life of service to our nation is one to not only respect but also model. I want to make West Virginia the most veteran-friendly state in the country, and I look forward to having General Tackett help me achieve that."
