CHARLESTON, WV -- Today, leaders of the West Virginia American Federation of Teachers announced that educators in Fayette County and Roane County endorsed Democrat Ben Salango for governor.

Kanawha County Commissioner Ben Salango received the endorsement of AFT-Fayette County and AFT-Roane County because of his record of getting things done.

Tega Toney, VP of AFT-WV and President of AFT-Fayette, said, “Ben Salango will be a governor who will fight for West Virginia teachers and school service personnel. He understands that teachers need the freedom to teach and that educators need to be paid like the professionals we are. We are standing with Ben because he will support public schools and has a record of getting things done for working families.”

Ashley Williams, President of AFT-Roane, said, “Ben Salango is our choice because he will stand up for students, parents, and educators. He knows what’s going on in our schools and I’m confident that he will make every school in West Virginia stronger and help students reach their full potential.”

Last week, Salango was endorsed by the West Virginia School Service Personnel Association.
